On November 1, 2022, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Amb. Khusrav Noziri participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government Meeting, held under the Chairmanship of the People’s Republic of China in video conference format.
The event witnessed participation of SCO Member States, Observers, Dialogue Partners, and External Partners.
While making opening remarks, Mr. Li Keqiang, the Premier of the People’s Republic of China and Chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government, welcomed the participants and briefed them about the activities undertaken by the People’s Republic of China during its Chairmanship of the SCO. The Chair also highlighted growing importance of the SCO in the region and beyond.
Discussions, during the event, revolved around extraordinary challenges faced by the peoples of SCO Region. The engaging discussions shed light on prevailing tense geopolitical situation, ongoing military conflicts, terrorism, extremism and separatism, transition and transformations in international system, poverty, climate change, clean energy, etc,¦
Economic Cooperation Organization regularly participates in the major events hosted within the framework of the SCO. The ECO also attended the recent 21st Summit of the SCO, held in 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The next SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting will take place in 2023 under the Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
