On the sidelines of the International Forum “Peace and Trust: Unity of Goals for a Sustainable Future,” the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Dr. Asad M. Khan, held a meeting with H.E. Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

At the outset, Dr. Khan acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding and invaluable contributions to ECO, congratulated the Honorable Minister on assuming the Organization’s chairmanship for the next two years and reaffirmed the ECO Secretariat’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan to make its ECO chairmanship a landmark phase for the Organization.

Dr. Khan also briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on ECO’s activities in 2025 and events planned for 2026, inviting Pakistan to host a broad slate of ECO engagements during its chairmanship. He also highlighted Lahore’s designation as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2027 and discussed opportunities to leverage this opportunity to enhance Lahore’s global tourism profile and deepen regional cooperation in the tourism sector.
