On November 15, 2022, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, H.E. Mr. Khusrav Noziri on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 27th Session of Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) in Sharm el-Sheikh met with H.E. Ms. Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Mr. Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of Environmental Protection Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meetings, ECO Secretary General stressed importance of enhanced ownership and vigorous engagement by the Member States to expand environmental profile of ECO region. Moreover, the sides discussed possibility of organizing environment ministerial meeting in soonest period. It was acknowledged necessity to strengthen environmental agenda of the region to align with recent global priorities taking into the consideration of each country’s environmental concerns.
