On the sidelines of the 7th Meeting of the Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States, ECO Secretary General Dr. Asad M. Khan held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Mohammad Movahhedi, Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran on 11 September 2026 in Turkistan.
ECO Secretary General, Dr. Khan, appreciating the leading role of Iran in advancing ECO’s regional agenda of the economic development and prosperity, emphasized on effective implementation of the Plan of Interaction among the Offices of the Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States. While recalling Iran’s hosting of the First Meeting of this mechanism in 2012 in Tehran, he also called for enhancing institutional linkages among Attorneys/Prosecutors General Office of the Member States through fully operationalization of the ECO Regional Center for Cooperation of Anti‑Corruption Agencies and Ombudsmen (RCCACO) headquartered in Iran, which will play essential role for effective and coherent response to transnational organized crime across the ECO Region. Secretary General while expressing solidarity and support with the people of Iran in the face of external aggression, further noted that the evolving geographical environment in the region demands ever greater and closer regional cooperation to address economic and development related challenges.
H.E. Mr. Mohammad Movahhedi, Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran reciprocated his thoughts and appreciated ECO Secretary General for the Secretariat’s continued assistance and support to the Member States in organizing such important events and programs, and underscored the need for organization of more regional activities under framework of ECO on raising awareness, information sharing and capacity building programs in judicial and prosecutorial domain.
The both sides further underscored the importance of expanding regional cooperation to develop a ECO regional roadmap to address the law-enforcement related challenges through collective efforts of the Member States.
