A regional webinar on sustainable transport and electric mobility in the ECO region organized jointly by the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and ECO Clean Energy Center (CECECO).
Ambassador Silapberdi Nurberdiyev, Deputy Secretary General of the ECO Secretariat, delivered opening remarks on behalf of the Secretariat. In particular, he emphasized the importance of sustainable transport and electric mobility for strengthening economic resilience, reducing environmental impacts and promoting green innovation across the region.
Discussions focused on electric vehicle adoption, renewable energy, charging infrastructure, regulatory frameworks and investment opportunities. Participants also highlighted the importance of harmonizing standards, developing interconnected charging networks along regional transport corridors, and strengthening cooperation in research, technology and knowledge exchange.
The webinar provided an important platform for sharing experiences, identifying common challenges and exploring practical opportunities for regional cooperation in sustainable transport and electric mobility.
The ECO Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating cooperation among Member States and ECO institutions in support of a cleaner, more connected and sustainable ECO region.
The programme brought together policymakers, experts and practitioners to discuss transport emissions, electric vehicle adoption and the region’s transition away from petroleum fuels.
Speakers from the International Renewable Energy Agency, Sharif University of Technology and the ECO Science Foundation made comprehensive presentations, examining policies, charging infrastructure, electricity grid readiness and investment needs.
