Economic Cooperation Organization

Within the framework of his visit to Tashkent in connection with 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (COM), the ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov on January 22.

Within the framework of his visit to Tashkent in connection with 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (COM), the ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Bakhtiyor Saidov on January 22.

Congratulating the high Uzbek dignitary for assuming his fresh responsibilities, the Secretary General thanked the Government of Uzbekistan for its chairmanship of the Organization in 2022, and the country’s new ideas and initiatives, most significantly the proclamation of 2022 as the Year of Strengthening Connectivity in the region as well as the proposed high-level dialogue platform on environmental cooperation. Expressing gratitude for hosting the 26th Meeting of the COM, he wished for success of the event scheduled for January 24, 2023.

His Excellency Mr. Saidov welcomed the ECO Secretary General and his team to Tashkent, thanking them for all their assistance and support to Uzbekistan in organizing this important ECO event, being hosted by Uzbekistan for the first time. He reaffirmed his support to ECO, as well as the country’s commitment towards the Organization’s agenda of regional cooperation, especially in some priority areas, including transport, trade, investment, and energy sectors.

The two sides stood composed to work together with a view to exploring all opportunities for the continued promotion of multifaceted areas of cooperation as well as creating conducive working environment in the region aimed at augmenting collective development and socio-economic progress of the Member States. They also agreed to intensify cooperation for enhancing visibility of the ECO in the global landscape.
