H.E. Dr. Derya Ors, paid a visit to the ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour at the ECO Secretariat on February 4, 2019 and presented his letter of credence.
H.E. Dr. Soleimanpour welcomed Dr. Ors as the new Representative of Turkey to ECO and wished him a successful tenure in Tehran. He also expressed that the Republic of Turkey, being a founding, proactive and vocal member of the organization, holds a very prominent position in the ECO’s affairs. Reminding the fact that Turkey will assume the Chairmanship of ECO in the coming months, Dr. Soleimanpour extended his appreciation on Turkey’s receptiveness for hosting several important events and expressed his expectations of active support of new Ambassador in this regard.
Ambassador Ors underlined that the ECO is well-poised to handle the challenges and avail future opportunities prevailing in the region, assuring the Secretary General of Turkey’s full support to secure organization’s aims and objectives. Ambassador Ors invited the Secretary General to pay a courtesy visit to Turkey in the coming months and the kind invitation welcomed by the Secretary General.
Taking this opportunity the Secretary General and Ambassador Ors held exchange of views on the current issues of the Organization including the implementation process of the ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) and the positions of the Member States on the Agreement signed on July 17, 2003 in Islamabad.
