9th Meeting of High Level Experts Group on Statistics was held on May 16, 2023 in virtual mode. The gathering was chaired by Mr Rauf Salimov, Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In his speech Mr Salimov informed the group about the priorities of the Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Economic Cooperation Organization in 2023. The representatives of the Member States made deliberations on country statistical developments and aired suggestions on stronger interaction and cooperation in the field of statistics within the ECO area.
ECO Deputy Secretary General Amb. J.Asanov briefed about the upcoming international training events that are jointly being organized by ECO, UN SIAP and SESRIC. ECO Secretariat also presented The ECO Annual Economic Report – 2021 and informed about the ongoing pace of compilation of the ECO Annual Economic Report – 2022, which will focus on agriculture keeping in view the objective of the Member States to achieve food security.
The meeting adopted the draft agenda of the 7th Meeting of the Heads of National Statistics Offices that is planned to be held in September 2023.
