The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) held the Meeting of the Ad-hoc Specialized Working Group on Diversification of Intra-Regional Tourism on 11 November 2025 in virtual format. The meeting brought together representatives from ECO Member States and the staff of the Tourism Directorate of the ECO Secretariat to discuss practical measures to broaden the region’s tourism offerings beyond traditional segments.
During the meeting, participants shared national experiences, proposals, and constructive ideas aimed at fostering diversification in regional tourism, with a particular focus on niche segments such as health and wellness tourism, gastronomy tourism, ecotourism, business and MICE tourism, among others.
The Secretariat presented the draft Policy Brief on Diversification of Intra-Regional Tourism, which outlines a strategic approach to underexplored tourism opportunities across the ECO region. Member States provided valuable feedback and proposed additional inputs to ensure the document reflects regional priorities and local contexts.
