Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran H.E. Mr. Bakhodir Abdullaev inaugurated a four day exhibition ‘Uzbekistan at the Crossroads of Silk Road’ on 17 February 2020 at ECO Diplomatic Art Gallery in ECO Cultural Institute (ECI).

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran H.E. Mr. Bakhodir Abdullaev inaugurated a four day exhibition 'Uzbekistan at the Crossroads of Silk Road' on 17 February 2020 at ECO Diplomatic Art Gallery in ECO Cultural Institute (ECI). At the exhibition about 40 photos taken by Mr. Husniddin Ato, a renowned Uzbek photographer, have been showcased. The Deputy Secretaries General of ECO, Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Bؤ±çaklؤ± and Mr. Kanan Nazarov, represented the ECO Secretariat in the event.

In his inaugural remarks, the ECI president, H.E. Mr. Sarvar Bakhti thanked the embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran to co-organize this important event. Acknowledging the rich culture and history of ECO region, the ECI president elucidated the significance of such events for the promotion of our shared culture, customs, art, poetry and literature.

H.E. Mr. Bakhodir Abdullaev mentioned that the photographs displayed at the exhibition described historical monuments, tourist attractions, customs and traditions of the people of Uzbekistan. He mentioned that ancient Uzbek cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Tashkent are located at the heart of the Silk Road. He also touched upon the measures being adopted by the Government of Uzbekistan for the preservation of monuments and historical sites of the country. He stressed upon the need for greater collaboration at regional level for the preservation of historical monuments and common heritage in the ECO region.

The inaugural session of the exhibition was attended by ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan as well as representatives of various diplomatic missions based in Tehran.
