The Chairman of Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr. Umid Shadiev, who is leading Uzbekistan delegation at the 17thTehran International Tourism and Related Industries Exhibition, paid a visit to the ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, on February 13, 2024.
Welcoming the guest, ECO Secretary General congratulated the visiting dignitary on designation of Shakhrisabz city of Uzbekistan as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2024 and wished for the city’s successful hosting of the associated festivities. He emphasized that these events will showcase the tourism potential of Shakhrisabz, while also providing opportunities for cooperation between public and private sector representatives from the ECO Member States.
Mr. Shadiev shared a concept note regarding the establishment of ECO Consultative Committee on Tourism, which was put forward by H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan during the 16th ECO Summit held in Tashkent on November 9, 2023.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of the development of tourism in the ECO region such as promotion of tourism destinations and media coverage of tourism activities.
