A delegation of the Chinese Embassy in Tehran, comprising senior diplomats, visited the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization on February 1, 2023. The delegation was received by ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri.
During the visit, the Chinese diplomats were briefed by relevant directorates on ECO regional activities as well as some current/future policies of the Organization in segmental presentations delivered to make them conversant with the ECO and its various sectoral engagements.
Acknowledging the cooperative mechanism of ECO, the Minister/Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Xu Qisong expressed his pleasure over the visit and appreciated the comprehensive briefing on structure, scope and functioning of the Organization. Moreover, he underlined the main objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative inaugurated by H.E. Xi Jinping, the honourable President of the People's Republic of China, adding that the project entails many aspects of mutual development, particularly, trade facilitation, connectivity, finance cooperation and people-to-people contacts.
The visiting delegation exhibited keen interest to establish collaborative partnership with ECO and continue consultations to explore possibilities for jointly working in certain areas of common interest.
