Tehran – February 11, 2025 

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), organized a virtual meeting to review and discuss the draft study on ECO Transport Corridors and ECO Gates. This study, conducted by an internationally recruited consultant, aims to enhance regional connectivity and streamline transit transport infrastructure across ECO member states.

The meeting brought together focal points and national consultants from ECO member states, along with the international consultant responsible for the study. During the session, the international consultant presented the key findings and recommendations of the draft study, followed by a productive exchange of views and feedback from national consultants.

Speaking at the event, representatives from the ECO Secretariat highlighted the strategic importance of improving transport corridors to boost trade, investment, and regional integration. They emphasized that the study serves as a crucial step toward identifying challenges, harmonizing policies, and fostering cooperation among ECO member states to create a more efficient and interconnected transport network.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the comprehensive analysis provided in the study and shared country-specific insights to enhance its effectiveness. 

The ECO Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with member states and development partners, including the Islamic Development Bank, to implement the study’s recommendations. The outcome of the study is expected to serve as a roadmap for strengthening regional transport corridors, facilitating cross-border trade, and supporting sustainable economic growth in the ECO region.
