H.E. Dr. Asad M. Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), met with H.E. Mr. Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), to discuss collaborative efforts in advancing sustainable energy solutions.
During the meeting, Dr. Khan expressed ECO’s readiness to build strong institutional linkages with IRENA. He emphasized the importance of enhanced dialogue on sustainable energy, renewables, energy efficiency, and financing clean energy transitions, and highlighted the ECO’s commitment to mainstreaming sustainable energy transition and noted two key projects that are pivotal to this transformation: the establishment of the ECO Clean Energy Centre (CECECO) in Baku and the creation of the ECO Regional Electricity Market (ECO-REM).
Both sides acknowledged the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable energy goals and agreed to continue discussions to explore further opportunities for partnership.
