On November 21-22, 2024, an ECO delegation led by Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Silapberdi Nurberdiyev, participated in the International Conference on Environment & Urban Health organized by the Asian Mayor Forum in collaboration with the Khorramabad Municipality in Khorramabad City of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The conference brought together delegations from various Asian municipalities, diplomatic corps in Tehran, and representatives from non-governmental organizations and universities. Participants engaged in discussions regarding the environmental challenges faced by municipalities and explored best practices to enhance urban health. A particular emphasis was placed on promoting women’s participation in environmental protection as a means to achieve sustainable development. The forum concluded with a ceremonial planting of oak trees.
In addition to the main conference activities, the ECO delegation held bilateral meetings with Mr. Mohammad Khaki, President of the Lorestan Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, as well as Mr. Hamidreza Gholamzadeh, Secretary General of the Asian Mayor Forum. During these meetings, both parties deliberated on potential areas for collaboration aligned with their respective organizational mandates.
