An ECO delegation headed by Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri attended the 2024 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, which convened under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council.

The Forum is set to review in-depth SDGs 1, 2, 13, 16 and 17 this year under the theme of “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and Eradicating Poverty in Times of Multiple Crises: the Effective Delivery of Sustainable, Resilient and Innovative Solutions.” Following up in the Political Decleration and other outcomes of the SDG Summit, the Forum will also contribute to the preparations for the Summit of the Future, to be held in September 2024.

In the opening ceromony of the Forum, Ms. Poula Narvaez Ojeda, President of ECOSOC, emphasized the importance of collective efforts for achieving SDGs. Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of UN,⁠ noted the key role of innovative financing, PPP, social protection and digital transformation for achieving SDGs, in her opening remarks, further stating that this Forum is a chance to get a momentum for SDGs.

⁠Attended by country delegations, NGOs, as well as international and regional organizations, the Forum draws on the lessons learned, good practices and experiences of 37 countries conducting their Voluntary National Reviews.
