The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in close coordination with the ECO Secretariat, has successfully concluded two important online capacity-building sessions aimed at strengthening customs expertise across the ECO region.
On 4 December 2025, the training on “Classification Characteristics of Textile Materials” brought together nearly 50 experts from customs and tariff units of nine ECO Member States: the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan (host), the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The session focused on deepening participants’ understanding of textile material classification, thereby supporting more accurate and effective customs procedures within the region.
On 18 December 2025, an experience-sharing session on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) was held. This event brought together about 25 experts from all ECO Member States, and provided a detailed overview of the information systems of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and highlighted good practices in electronic data exchange with other countries, transit systems and national state agencies. The session aimed at streamlining customs operations and improving operational efficiency through modern IT solutions.
Both sessions provided invaluable opportunities for customs professionals, equipping them with practical knowledge and tools to refine customs procedures and enhance data exchange practices.
