ECO celebrated the 31st Anniversary of its Expansion on November 28, 2023, -the ECO Day- marking the presence of ambassadors/representatives from member countries, other foreign diplomats, dignitaries of the host government and some eminent guests during a reception gathering organized at the ECO Cultural Institute in Tehran.
The event’s ceremony was addressed by ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri who, in his inaugural remarks, reiterated the importance of ECO for the continued promotion of regional economic cooperation. Underlining some high-level ECO meetings and important activities held in 2023, Ambassador Noziri appreciated the member countries for their unwavering commitment to supporting the Organization and its efforts for securing greater regional integration. Expressing satisfaction over the overall progress of the Organization, he emphasized the need for more consolidated actions, which he considered necessary, to ensure an unimpeded accomplishment of the ECO’s development targets, especially concerning the regional trade and connectivity as well as global visibility of the Organization.
On the occasion, the ECO Award-2023 was presented to an Iranian Researcher, Dr. Tayebe Mesbahzadeh for the excellence of her services rendered in the field of Agriculture and Environment.
A visual documentary was also played on the ECO Day Reception, covering sectoral progress and achievements of the Organization. Besides, a photo exhibition was also arranged on the day, showcasing historical sequence and memories of the ECO.
