The 285th meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) convened in Yazd, on March 6, 2024.
Hosted by the Government of the Yazd, the meeting was inaugurated by a welcoming speech of the Governor General of Yazd, Mr. Mehran Fatemi. In his remarks, Governor Fatemi briefed the ECO delegation about economic and touristic prospects of Yazd, which is an important industrial center of Iran, and is also home to several UNESCO World Heritage sites with its rich historical and natural endowments. Later, the Permanent Representatives discussed and concluded the agenda of the meeting under the chairmanship of the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting also featured a joint press statement by the ECO Secretary General and the Governor General of Yazd.
The visit of ECO CPR coincided with some activities related to selection of the Yazd city as the Tourism Capital of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) for 2024. In this connection, the ECO Permanent Representatives had the opportunity to interact with the delegations of ACD, as well as the representatives of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce & Industry in a joint event focusing on commercial and industrial features of Yazd, on March 7, 2024.
