An ECO Delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Jandos Asanov attended the opening ceremony of the 16th Tehran International Tourism and Related Industries Exhibition at Tehran International Permanent Fairground. The occasion was also graced by Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Mr. Ezzatollah Zarghami. Other participants included the heads and members of diplomatic corps as well as some foreign and local guests.
After the inaugural ceremony, the Honourable Minister visited the Ardabil Hall of the Exhibition. It is recalled that the 3rd ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism organized at Khujand, Tajikistan on October 4, 2019 selected the Ardabil city of Iran as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2023.
On the event’s sidelines, some bilateral meetings were also convened between the delegates of the ECO Secretariat and officials from different provinces of Iran including Ardabil, Zanjan, Tabriz and Golestan. Their interactions, inter alia, discussed the tourism potential of these provinces while exploring the means and ways for enhancing tourism cooperation amongst the ECO Member States.
The exhibition opened on February 7, 2023 will continue until February 10, 2023.
