On the sidelines of their visit to Sari to attend the 264th Meeting of the CPR, the ECO Secretary General and ECO Permanent Representatives/Representatives visited the Amirabad Special Economic Zone on May 11, 2022.
The Director General of Amirabad Port and Maritime office, Mr. Mohammad Ali Asl Saeedipoor made a presentation to brief the ECO delegates on country's export development strategies, especially through ports. In his presentation, he also highlighted their ways for increasing exports to other countries, including the ECO nations.
It was noted that internal and external factors play important role in enhancing exports through ports, as well as facilitating trade and export laws, reviewing customs tariffs and consolidating tariffs, reducing the number of authoritative devices involved in exports and smoothing foreign exchange allocation processes.
The Secretary General and other ECO delegates expressed their interest in the Amirabad Port opportunities, considering them favourable for strengthening connectivity within the ECO Region.
