Economic Cooperation Organization

A two-day Brainstorming Session on ECO reform process commenced on May 23, 2022 at the ECO Secretariat in Tehran. The event was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Furkat Sidikov. Other Deputies Foreign Minister and Representatives of the Member States also attended the Session. The high-level gathering, inaugurated by ECO Secretary General H.E. Mr. Khusrav Noziri, covered an opening and two working rounds.

A two-day Brainstorming Session on ECO reform process commenced on May 23, 2022 at the ECO Secretariat in Tehran. The event was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. The Session, recommended by 32nd Meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) in January 2022, is aimed at mulling over some specific issues, especially the ways and means to enhancing regional cooperation in the post-pandemic period. The first day of the interaction featured discussions on the issues of regional trade and connectivity as well as considered the problems that appear to hamper smooth implementation of some fundamental agreements, particularly ECOTA and TTFA.

The Brainstorming Session will conclude its last round of discussion on May 24, 2022, expecting deliberations on various important issues, including the efficiency and effectiveness of the Organization, ECO Specialized Agencies, development of coordination mechanism for financing and implementing ECO Projects.
