Deputy Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Amb. Silapberdi Nurberdiyev held a meeting with Mr. J. Chariyev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on November 11, 2025 in Tashkent.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of transport and to promote regional connectivity within the ECO region. The Deputy Secretary General highlighted the significant role of Uzbekistan in enhancing transport linkages among the ECO Member States and emphasized the importance of the country’s active participation in joint projects and initiatives. He further informed about the ongoing work on the ECO Transport Strategy for 2026–2035, aimed at ensuring sustainable regional transport integration.

Special attention was given to Uzbekistan’s initiatives presented during the 12th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Transport (2023), including the establishment of the ECO Regional Air Hub in Samarkand and the Digital Transport and Customs Office of ECO in Tashkent. The Secretariat reaffirmed its readiness to support these initiatives while underlining the importance of close coordination and necessary investment by the host country. Mr. Nurberdiev also invited the Uzbek side to participate in the upcoming 7th Meeting of the Heads of Maritime Organizations of the ECO, scheduled for 8–9 December 2025 in Tehran.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics, with the shared goal of advancing regional integration and economic development within the ECO framework.
