The Deputy Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Ambassador Silapberdi Nurberdiyev, met with Mr. Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Ambassador Nurberdiyev highlighted the importance of strengthening regional cooperation in the field of digitalization among ECO Member States. He briefed the Deputy Minister on the ongoing development of the information technology sector within the Organization and noted that the ECO Secretariat is currently preparing a new strategic framework for the Organization. He informed that the adoption of this new strategy is expected to take place during the ICT Ministerial Meeting, scheduled to be held in Islamabad in the first quarter of next year.
Both sides agreed on the importance of sharing Uzbekistan’s successful experiences with other ECO Member States and decided to organize an online meeting to facilitate such exchanges. They also discussed prospects for cooperation in education, capacity building, and joint initiatives such as the organization of the “Tech Olympics” among Member States.
