The 261st Meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) held on February 7, 2022 under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The 261st Meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) held on February 7, 2022 under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

While delivering his remarks at the beginning of the Meeting, Previous CPR Chair – Ambassador of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Ahmet Gurbanov underlined major achievements made during Turkmenistan's ECO Chairmanship.

As per ECO`s rules and procedures Republic of Uzbekistan assumed ECO Chairmanship from January 2022 and accordingly the Ambassador of the Republic Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to ECO, H.E. Mr. Bakhodir Abdullaev assumed his duties as CPR Chairman.

The new CPR Chairman in his statement outlined the goals and objectives of Uzbekistan ECO Chairmanship as defined in the Concept of Uzbekistan`s Chairmanship in ECO for the year 2022, which will be implemented under the motto “2022 ,“ the Year of Strengthening of Connectivity”.

The ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri while extending sincere gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Ahmet Gurbanov for his excellent chairmanship of Council during 2021, congratulated Ambassador Bakhodir Abdullayev on his inauguration as new Chairman of the CPR. Secretary General expressed confidence that vast experience and knowledge of new CPR Chairman will definitely help the Council to maintain and accelerate joint actions and activities for greater regional cooperation.
