The Expert Group Meeting for establishment of the ECO Advisory Committee on Tourism was held virtually on 26 August 2024. This meeting follows the initial discussions on the establishment of the ECO Advisory Committee on Tourism, which took place on 26 April 2024 in Shahrisabz, Uzbekistan.
The discussions covered the objectives, composition, and structure of the Committee, aiming to lay the groundwork for effective collaboration in advancing tourism initiatives within the ECO region.
The meeting marks a significant step towards the realization of the Advisory Committee, which was proposed by H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan during the 16th ECO Summit held on 8- 9 October 2023, in Tashkent. The Committee is anticipated to play a pivotal role in promoting sustainable tourism practices, enhancing cultural exchange, and boosting economic growth through tourism across the ECO member states.
