The Economic Cooperation Organization successfully hosted a Webinar titled “The Alchemy of Cyber Security: Cyber Defense Based on Generative Artificial Intelligence,” with the participation of representatives from ECO member states as well as IT experts to explore the transformative potential of generative AI in enhancing cybersecurity.
Opening the meeting, the representative of the ECO Secretariat emphasized the need for advanced defense mechanisms and highlighted the pivotal role of generative AI in cyber defenses.
Mr. Vahid Khodabakhshi, Chief Risk and Security Officer at Shaparak Co. and Lecturer at Sharif University of Technology (Iran), delivered a presentation on the application of generative AI in real-world cybersecurity scenarios, providing the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the practical benefits and challenges of deploying AI-driven solutions.
Key topics included the evolution and capabilities of generative AI technologies like GPT-4, the current cybersecurity threat landscape, and the application of AI in threat detection and incident response automation. Attendees examined practical case studies from the financial sector, government infrastructure, and healthcare systems within ECO member countries, while also discussing ethical and practical considerations such as privacy, data security, and model reliability.
