Kermanshah – June 10, 2025

An ECO delegation composed of ECO Deputy Secretary General Mr. Çağatay Emrah Öngüt, Head of Section for Project Management Mr. Faizrakhman Kassenov and, Program Officer for Tourism Ms. Hosna Khalvandi attended the Festival of Cultural Capital of Asian Cities 2025, which took place in Kermanshah from June 8 to 10, 2025.  Kermanshah was designated the Cultural Capital of Asian Cities for 2025 by the Secretariat of the Asian Mayors Forum.

Attendees of the Festival included members of the diplomatic corps based in Iran; cultural dignitaries; and international delegates. Guests embarked on a journey through Kermanshah’s history, visiting landmarks such as the Moaven ol-Molk Tekyeh, the Biglarbeigi Tekyeh, and the Bisotun UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

The event concluded with a vibrant celebration of the city’s living traditions, followed by high-level discussions and cultural immersion activities. Delegates explored the centuries-old Kermanshah Bazaar, a UNESCO tentative site, and experienced the city’s renowned culinary heritage. Kermanshah is recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy.
