The Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) successfully held a regional webinar titled “Digital Twin and City Simulation “on 20 August 2025, drawing participation from over 80 representatives of municipalities, international organizations, academic institutions, and urban development experts across Asia.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Hamidreza Gholamzadeh, Secretary-General of the Asian Mayors Forum, emphasized technological challenges and security concerns facing modern cities, as well as the transformative potential of digital twin technologies and called on participants to contribute innovative ideas for the future of urban development.

Representing ECO, Dr. Husnu Tekin, Director for HRSD, presented on “Smart City Initiatives in the ECO Region and the Role of Regional Organizations in Digital Twin & City Simulation”. He outlined the organization’s strategic priorities in advancing smart urban planning and regional cooperation through emerging digital technologies.

Municipal representatives from countries including Türkiye, India, Russia, the Philippines, South Korea, and the Islamic Republic of Iran shared practical case studies and insights on the implementation of smart city strategies. Key topics included twin city initiatives for climate change adaptation, water resource management, traffic optimization, AI integration, data-driven governance, and citizen engagement in urban innovation.

The webinar provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and regional collaboration, reinforcing the critical role of digital innovation in shaping resilient, inclusive, and sustainable urban futures across Asia.
