Tehran – June 30, 2024
The ECO Secretariat successfully completed a 5-day Train-the-Trainers Training Programme on International Standards and Standardization held from June 24 to 28, 2024. The program was attended by more than 50 Experts and Master Trainers from nine ECO Member States as well as the ECO Regional Institute for Standardization, Conformity Assessment, Accreditation and Metrology (RISCAM).
In their interactive participation, experts from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan underscored their commitment to advancing their standardization practices for expansion of trade.
The training primarily concentrated on the procedures of International/European standardization activities, legal aspects of standards, WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, and the related important areas such as halal food standardization, food safety standards, corporate sustainability reporting, etc. The continued emphasis of the ECO in upgrading skills of the regional organization to keep abreast with latest trends in standardization and focus on harmonizing their implementation is in line with the ECO region’s commitment to meet international standards to ensure food safety, consumer welfare, and to contribute in international trade in line with WTO Agreements and ECO Trade Agreement.
The project is designed to augment the standardization capabilities of ECO Member States, enabling them to effectively contribute to national, regional, and international standardization activities.
