The Sixth Meeting of the Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States convened in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on September 25, 2025. The meeting reaffirmed the Member States’ commitment to strengthening institutional linkages and enhancing interagency coordination in the fight against transnational organized crimes and emerging legal challenges.
In his welcome address, the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Nigmatilla Yuldoshev, highlighted that the meeting would produce valuable outcomes, fostering enhanced cooperation among regional countries in various areas, particularly in combating crime.
ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, expressed appreciation for the gracious hospitality and well-organized event. He emphasized that the meeting aligns with the strategic priorities outlined in the ECO Vision 2025 and reviewed the Plan of Interaction among Offices of Attorneys/Prosecutors General, emphasizing judicial mutual assistance, capacity building, asset recovery, and cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Attorneys/Prosecutors General from ECO Member States as well as senior officials, who engaged in constructive discussions and deliberations.
The meeting welcomed offers from Pakistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan to host training programs on critical issues like drug awareness, anti-corruption, and cybercrime. It also highlighted the need to operationalize the ECO Regional Center for Cooperation of Anti-Corruption Agencies and Ombudsmen and praised the role of prosecution authorities in environmental protection.
The ECO Secretary General expressed confidence that collective efforts will strengthen a cohesive and effective prosecutorial framework within the ECO region, enhancing judicial cooperation, institutional capacities, transparency, and accountability. He reaffirmed the significance of regularly convening the Meetings of Attorneys/Prosecutors General as essential platforms for strategic alignment, mutual trust-building, and advancing regional legal cooperation.
