On 14 September, a delegation from the ECO Secretariat, led by Mr. Can Aygül, Director for Agriculture and Industry, paid a courtesy visit to the Iranian National Standards Organization (INSO) in Tehran to review ongoing cooperation and explore avenues to further strengthen regional quality infrastructure through the ECO Regional Institute for Standardization, Conformity Assessment, Accreditation and Metrology (ECO-RISCAM).
The ECO delegation was received by Dr. Qalasi, Acting Deputy for Standards Development and Promotion; Dr. Ghasemi, Director-General of the Office for Comparative Studies and International Standards Development Participation; and Ms. Ziaee, ECO-RISCAM Focal Point at INSO. Discussions centered on joint initiatives aimed at enhancing regional coordination in the field of quality infrastructure.
INSO presented an overview of ECO-RISCAM activities and outlined priority areas for future collaboration. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran also attended and reaffirmed the readiness to support ECO-RISCAM initiatives.
The meeting further addressed preparations for upcoming activities, including a Training Workshop on Conformity Assessment, to be hosted virtually by INSO on 1 October 2025, as well as arrangements for the First General Council Meeting of ECO-RISCAM. The meeting emphasized the importance of active participation by all Member States, accelerated ratification of the ECO-RISCAM Statute, and updated nominations of national focal points to reinforce regional networking and coordination.
As part of the visit, the ECO Secretariat delegation also toured the ECO-RISCAM Secretariat Office, located within INSO headquarters in Tehran.
