Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Dr. Asad M. Khan, met with H.E. Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in Astana. The high-level meeting addressed key priorities in regional economic integration, trade facilitation, and strategic connectivity.
Discussions highlighted the importance of digital economic integration and the ECO Trade Facilitation Strategy. The Secretariat pledged to facilitate Kazakhstan’s active role in the ECO Trade Negotiation Committee (TNC).
The meeting further discussed prospects of regional connectivity, while noting that the two-year ECO Chairmanship by Pakistan will serve to accelerate the realization of regional connectivity goals.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong and growing partnership between the ECO Secretariat and Kazakhstan, and underscored the shared commitment of both sides to advancing regional prosperity through enhanced trade, connectivity, and economic cooperation.
