ECO Secretary General Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan met with H.E. Atageldi Shamuradov, Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan in Erzurum, the ECO Tourism Capital to discuss avenues for enhancing regional tourism cooperation.
Ambassador Khan commended Turkmenistan’s significant contributions to the ECO tourism agenda, highlighting the country’s rich cultural potential and mentioned key ECO initiatives to promote tourism.He acknowledged Turkmenistan’s efforts in hosting international events and its active participation in the initiatives of ECO in the field of tourism which became one of three main priorities of organization along with trade and transport.
Minister Shamuradov expressed appreciation for the ECO’s support and reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to regional tourism development, particularly with neighboring countries. He also informed about the recent tourism figures and opening new destinations for welcoming tourists.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing a shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector, recognizing its potential to foster economic growth and cultural understanding within the ECO region.
