Chairing the meeting, the Honourable Minister emphasized the importance of scientific research and technological innovation for economic growth and trade development, considering the present trade volume of the region below its size and population. The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri attended the 5th Meeting of the Board of Trustees of ECO Science Foundation held in Isfahan, Iran on February 14, 2023. The event was chaired by Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ali Zolfigol.

Given the emerging global challenges, the ECO Secretary General highlighted the increasing need for promoting scientific research and innovation in the region. He alluded to the vast economic and demographic potential of the Member States, calling for their unyielding support to the role and functioning of ECO Science Foundation in the greater regional interest.
The meeting, inter alia, reviewed and discussed various other issues under its agenda, including the progress and activities of the Foundation, implementation status of the 4th BoT Meeting as well the ratification of ECOSF’s Charter and some additional protocols, administrative and budgetary matters etc.
