In the framework of his visit to Turkmenistan, ECO Secretary General Dr. Asad M. Khan called on the Honorable President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on the sidelines of the 1st ECO Forum on Sustainable Development.
Dr. Khan expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s role in hosting the Forum and highlighted the country’s significant contributions to regional economic development.
Dr. Khan further briefed President Berdimuhamedov about the 17th ECO Summit scheduled for July 3-4, 2025 in Azerbaijan, while also welcoming Turkmenistan’s hosting of the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in August 2025. He also recognized the invitation to attend the International Conference dedicated to the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality.
Dr. Khan commended Turkmenistan’s strategic geographic position as a vital link in regional transport and trade corridors, enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe. He encouraged continued engagement in agricultural and industrial initiatives within the ECO framework, inviting Turkmenistan to join efforts aimed at promoting food security and industrial advancement. This meeting reinforced the commitment to fostering cooperation and collaboration among ECO member states, paving the way for a more integrated and prosperous region.
