The ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri visited Baku on March 1,“3, 2023 in connection with attending the Summit-level Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Contact Group on Post-Pandemic Global Recovery. During the visit, ECO Secretary General called on the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov who also holds the current Chairmanship of the ECO.

The ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri visited Baku on March 1,“3, 2023 in connection with attending the Summit-level Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Contact Group on Post-Pandemic Global Recovery. During the visit, ECO Secretary General called on the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov who also holds the current Chairmanship of the ECO.

Focusing on Azerbaijan’s ECO Chairmanship that declares 2023 as the “Year of Green Transition and Interconnectivity”, the Honourable Minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment and determination for the intensification of regional cooperation within the framework of the Organization. He appreciated the ECO Secretary General for his participation in the NAM Summit, noting that the event would spotlight post-pandemic recovery, particularly, in the developing countries.

Ambassador Noziri acknowledged the theme of Azerbaijan’s ECO Chairmanship that, he considered, was quite inspirational to promote the Organization’s idea of intra-regional connectivity and transition towards green and clean environment. Assuring his complete support to facilitate smooth implementation of Azerbaijan’s initiatives towards enhanced regional development and integration, the ECO Secretary General congratulated the Republic of Azerbaijan for hosting the NAM Summit that, he hoped, would yield productive outcomes to serve the objectives of the NAM.

Moreover, the two sides discussed the importance of multilateralism and the scope of regional cooperation for shared economic development, as well as the ways and means for expanding collaboration amongst the Member States, especially during the ECO Chairmanship of Azerbaijan. They stood poised to mutually push forward the agenda of the Organization and take all necessary measures to enhance visibility of the ECO across the globe.
