On November 8, the ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov held a meeting on the sidelines of 16th ECO Summit scheduled for November 9, 2023 in Tashkent.

Valuing the ECO for intensification of regional economic cooperation, the bilateral interaction encapsulated discussion on issues related to collaboration amongst member countries in areas of trade, connectivity, energy, environment, industry, etc. ECO’s initiative for creating Border Free Trade Zones in the region was mutually acknowledged as a facilitative way forward to ensuring acceleration in trade activism in the region.
As regards, accomplishment of SDGs, the idea to organize 1st ECO Forum on Sustainable Development next year in Turkmenistan’s newly launched modern city of Arkadag was also explored during the meeting. Moreover, the importance of successfully implemented concept of ECO Tourism Capitals was specially underlined with the understanding that it would continue fueling ECO’s efforts to promoting tourism cooperation amongst member countries, as well as inviting attention of the global tourists to the ECO Region.
