The Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Dr. Asad M. Khan met with Dr. Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpei, Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting focused on enhancing multilateral tourism collaboration among ECO Member States and Iran’s active role in ECO tourism initiatives.
A key topic of discussion was the upcoming 3rd ECO Confobition on Health Tourism, scheduled for 11–13 June 2025 in Hamedan, Iran. Both parties emphasized the significance of this event in promoting health tourism and fostering regional cooperation in the sector. They further exchanged views on diversifying tourism offerings within the ECO region, highlighting the potential of niche tourism areas such as hydrotherapy, women’s tourism, and ecolodges. The discussion also covered strategies for facilitating travel, promoting various destinations, improving connectivity, leveraging digital marketing channels, developing joint tour packages, and organizing tourism fairs under the ECO umbrella.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing tourism development in the ECO region and agreed to continue close collaboration on future initiatives.
