Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), met with Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, H.E. Mr. Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, during his bilateral visit to Islamabad.

Foreign Secretary Qazi commended Ambassador Noziri for his successful tenure and expressed hope that his successor, Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan, would build upon his legacy and inject new dynamism into the organization. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting ECO’s activities and initiatives, emphasizing the region’s vast economic and trade potential and the commonalities among member states.

Ambassador Noziri expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality and acknowledged the country’s invaluable contributions to the ECO. He provided updates on the organization’s latest activities, including Iran’s current chairmanship of the ECO for 2024, and outlined planned reforms aimed at enhancing the organization’s global effectiveness and relevance. Furthermore, he highlighted the potential of the Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy in capacity building for young and mid-career diplomats.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening ties and promoting economic cooperation within the ECO framework.
