The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Khusrav Noziri received the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tehran, H.E. Mr. Bakhodir Abdullayev on August 30, 2021.
While welcoming Ambassador Abdullayev, the Secretary General acknowledged the significant role of Uzbekistan in the process of regional development. He expressed confidence that with the continued backing of the Member States, the Organization will continue to move forward for securing its envisioned targets. He also extended his warm congratulation to the Ambassador and the people of Uzbekistan on their Independence Day falling on September 1, 2021.
The Uzbek Ambassador felicitated the Secretary General for assuming new responsibilities and extended him best wishes for the success of assigned task. He also assured his full cooperation to push the ECO's agenda of shared progress, prosperity and growth in the region.
While interacting, the two sides also discussed the importance of an accelerated promotion of collaborative regional activities and engagements for the continued mutual socioeconomic development. It was further recalled that the Republic of Uzbekistan would be taking over the Chairmanship of the Organization in January 2022.
