ECO Secretary General Dr. Asad M. Khan met with Türkiye’s Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism H.E. Mr. Serdar Çam in the framework of his visit to Türkiye.

During the meeting, Ambassador Khan expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s efforts in promoting regional development, especially in the tourism sector. The discussions focused on enhancing political ownership of ECO initiatives to unlock the region’s full potential, with particular emphasis on movement of people and promotion of shared cultural values of the region.

The Secretary General highlighted key tourism initiatives of the Organization, including the upcoming events marking Erzurum’s designation as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2025. In this context, the meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming ECO Tourism Ministers Meeting to be held in Erzurum in April 2025, which aims at establishing stronger ties between the public and private institutions, as well as enhancing knowledge and experience sharing in the tourism sector.
