ECO Secretary General Dr. Asad M. Khan met with H.E. Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, Türkiye’s Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, to discuss advancing regional connectivity and enhancing transport cooperation within the ECO region.
Dr. Khan noted Türkiye’s geostrategic role in fostering regional connectivity and emphasized the importance of stronger political ownership to fully unlock the region’s potential. The discussion highlighted the need for enhancing transport corridors, including rail, road and air transportation, also focusing on the increasing role of digitalization in the transport sector.
Additionally, they discussed upcoming 13th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Transport. Strengthening the Middle Corridor, especially revitalization and commercialization the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) corridor was also highlighted as a critical factor in expanding regional trade and connectivity.
The meeting underscored the importance of sustained collaboration to accelerate regional integration and enhance infrastructure development across the ECO region.
