While visiting Turkmenistan to attend the inaugural ceremony of the newly constructed city of Arkadag, the ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri met the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, H.E. Rashid Meredov.
Held on June 28, the meeting discussed the ECO-Turkmenistan partnership and the importance of increased economic cooperation for greater connectivity and integration in the region. Deliberating on issues and events taking place due to emerging global scenarios, the two sides emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration amongst the member countries through more concerted efforts and actions aimed at facilitating the process of regional development and economic growth. Both sides agreed to continue the joint promotion of the maximum ways and means of regional cooperation, especially in trade, transport, energy, tourism and agriculture sectors. The preparations being made for the 27th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (COM) and the 16th Summit were also taken into account during the meeting.
The ECO Secretary General congratulated the Honourable Foreign Minister for the splendid construction of the new city of Arkadaq which is a model of modern urban development. He also acknowledged Turkmenistan’s role in strengthening global efforts, mainly the country’s notable contribution to promote and help accomplish the UN Sustainable Development Goals – 2030.
Valuing the ECO and its significance for sustainable regional economic development, the Turkmen dignitary reaffirmed his complete support to the Organization.
