The Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Dr. Asad M. Khan, welcomed Mr. Osamu Tanaka, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Iran Office, at the ECO Secretariat for a high-level meeting focused on advancing cooperation and shared regional priorities.
The meeting provided a platform for both sides to exchange views on potential areas of collaboration, with Mr. Tanaka underscoring the value of fostering multilateral partnerships that support sustainable development and generate meaningful regional impact.
Secretary General Khan highlighted ECO’s broad mandate and operational capacity across member states, emphasizing the Organization’s readiness to complement JICA’s efforts in key sectors such as infrastructure development, disaster risk management, environmental sustainability, and capacity building.
During the exchange, the JICA delegation presented an overview of the agency’s mission and ongoing projects in Iran and the broader region, while ECO directorates shared insights into the Organization’s strategic programs and regional initiatives, identifying several areas where synergy between the two entities could be achieved.
