ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Kamoliddin Muminzod, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Tajikistan, on June 2, 2024, in Khiva, Uzbekistan. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 12th session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ongoing ECO activities in the tourism sector, including preparations for the upcoming ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism, the ECO Tourism Capital Initiative, and private sector involvement. The Chairman of Committee for Tourism Development shared the government’s plans to nominate the ancient and beautiful city of Khujand in Tajikistan as an ECO Tourism Capital for 2028 and to host a major tourism event in Dushanbe in the coming year, coinciding with World Tourism Day.
The parties agreed that these matters would be communicated through established diplomatic channels.
