Dr. Asad M. Khan, ECO Secretary General held a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Daler Juma in Dushanbe.
Dr. Khan acknowledged Tajikistan’s tremendous energy potential, thanked for its controbutions to revive the ECO’s Regional Energy Market Initiative and its active contributions to its operationalization. He also appreciated Tajikistan’s leadership in its global advocacy on water and glacier preservation and assured of ECO’s active participation in the forthcoming conference.
Minister Juma emphasized about the hydropower potential of Tajikistan, country’s largest project – the Rogun Hydropower Plant, which will not only ensure the energy security of Tajikistan, but will also contribute to increasing the electricity export supplies to neighboring countries.
