The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Ilkhom Rustamovich Mahkamov, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the 12th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Transport in Tashkent, on November 1, 2023.
During the meeting various areas of cooperation in transport and connectivity were discussed.
The ECO Secretary General informed the honorable Minister that the Secretariat is ready to follow up the regional transport connectivity projects and contribute to development of the corridors. He said, geographic location of Uzbekistan is of great importance for the connectivity of ECO region and it necessitates Uzbekistan’s active participation in the relevant connectivity projects of the organization. Highlighting the importance of Transit Transport Framework Agreement, Mr. Noziri also noted the importance of full implementation of the agreement.
The Uzbek Transport Minister also concluded assuring the continued cooperation and support for the excellence and expansion of connectivity in the region and beyond.
