The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Amb. Khusrav Noziri participated as an observer in the opening of the seventy-seventh Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations held on September 20, 2022 in New York.
The Heads of State and Government of 193 UN Member States, Observers, Representatives of Regional and International Organizations attended the event.
The seventy-seventh General Assembly session in 2022 comes as countries continue to suffer from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. It is focused on the challenges the world is confronting, renewing attention on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which aim to eradicate poverty by 2030, and preparing a Pact for the Future to be unveiled next year, ensuring the UN system to deal with future issues effectively.
