ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri participated virtually at the 37th FAO Ministerial Meeting of the Near East Regional Conference (NERC-37).

The Secretary General in his statement noted that the soaring food and agricultural prices after the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, played out differently across regions, with differing impacts on food security. He emphasized that transition to sustainable food systems is critical to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals while preserving the environment.

Secretary General Noziri also remarked that ECO is committed to the Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), and in this regard, the ECO Secretariat in cooperation with ECO Regional Coordination Center for Food Security (ECO-RCCFS) and FAO updated the ECO Regional Program for Food Security (ECO-RPFS) according to the post-pandemic situation and accordingly makes its utmost to facilitate moving towards the implementation stage aimed at improving and enhancing ECO Member States resilience to future shocks.
